HPU welcomes 250 high school students to 50th Band Leadership Camp

BROWNWOOD – June 14, 2024 – Howard Payne University hosted 250 high school students from 36 high schools across the state at its 50th Band Leadership Camp, which took place this week. Led by Dr. Jonathan Kraemer, director of bands and assistant professor of music, the camp provided clinics for directors and leadership tracks for students.

“The HPU Band Leadership Camp is one of the great highlights of the year,” Dr. Kraemer shared. “Students from all over the state come to the Howard Payne campus to learn and develop their musical skills in the areas of leadership, marching, conducting, percussion and color guard. Regardless of level of familiarity and experience with the marching arts, the camp offers something for everyone, including a track for band directors and sponsors.”
