BROWNWOOD – April 15, 2025 – Howard Payne University’s Zeta Beta chapter of the national honorary band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi received the Pillar of Leadership Award during the Southwest District Convention held in Midwest City, Oklahoma on March 29.
HPU’s chapter was honored from among 48 chapters representing college and university bands from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The members and leadership of the Zeta Beta chapter participated in a rigorous competitive process to determine the chapter that exhibits the highest standard of leadership across the entirety of the district and demonstrates that their leadership has the greatest effect on its university and the university band.
“We are so proud of all of the students in the band and the members of Kappa Kappa Psi who represent the qualities of servant leadership and commitment to excellence exemplified by our band program,” said Dr. Richard Fiese, professor of music.
