2025 Health Science Enrichment Workshop

Workshop Features:

  1. Science labs
  2. Health care simulations (sutures, staple-removal, basic EKG interpretation and emergency resuscitation)
  3. Round-table discussions with health care professionals
  4. On-site hospital shadowing

Workshop Requirements:

  1. Must have completed sophomore or junior year of high school by summer of 2025 and must be age 16 or older by June 19th, 2025.
  2. Write an essay (250 words or less) describing why a career in healthcare interests you and upload below.
  3. Obtain an unofficial transcript from your high school registrar and upload below.
  4. Have a teacher complete the recommendation form (linked below) and upload it at the place provided at the bottom of your application. 2025 Health Science Enrichment Workshop – Recommendation Form
  5. Complete the online application below by May 1, 2025.
  6. Upon Approval you will have to complete a background check through Hendrick Health Systems, provide a drug screen from a local clinic, and provide a record of required and up-to-date immunizations. (You will get an approval letter with more information)

If accepted into HPU’s Health Science Enrichment Workshop, you will receive emailed instructions regarding payment, background check, and drug screen information.

Refund policy: Unless otherwise indicated, registrations canceled more than one week in advance of the start of camp will be refunded the cost of the workshop minus a $25.00 administrative fee. Camp registrations canceled one week or less in advance of the start of the camp will not be refunded. Courses canceled by HPU will be fully refunded.

I understand that the purpose of this Health Science Workshop is designed to provide a hands-on enrichment experience for incoming high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a health profession. The program includes: science labs, health care simulations, on-sight hospital shadowing, and multiple opportunities to talk with health care professionals as well as college faculty about the path into a health science career. I understand that my overnight accommodations are not included.
