HPU Baseball Season Kicks Off

By Bri Davis | After a record season in 2019, all of HPU is excited to see what our baseball team has in store this season!

Assistant Coach, Robert Anders, is sharing in the excitement and he believes that team is looking good. “We also have great freshman to help fill the holes, reload the roster, and who go out and compete every weekend,”

One such freshman, Derek Grifford, has been preparing for his first collegiate season and is proud to have had the opportunity to not only “grow closer with his team but to also strengthen his relationship with Christ.”

Senior, Varrichio, is on the same page as Coach Anders and Grifford when it comes to their expectations for this semester. “We have a great opportunity to be even better than last year, we have the talent and determination to dominate every aspect to the game,” shared Varrichio.

According to Coach Anders, the atmosphere on the field this year has already been so “electric”

“We have so many young men wanting to learn and get better.” He has also seen players from last year develop into leaders. “I have no doubt that last year’s winning team plus all of our freshman energy and determination will win us not only the title of Conference Champions again, but also to go further in the Conference Tournament.”

There is no question about it, these men are ready for the season, so be sure to come out to support them and witness what all the excitement in the air!
